About Taylor Pyatt

As a Thunder Bay, Ontario native and former professional hockey player, Taylor Pyatt brings an elite level of experience to his role at TPH Academy Phoenix. After finishing his youth career with the Thunder Bay Kings, he moved on to the OHL where he competed for the Sudbury Wolves. In 1999, his hard work was recognized on the international stage when the New York Islanders selected him as the 8th overall NHL draft pick. Subsequently, Taylor enjoyed a distinguished 14-year career in the National Hockey League, representing six different organizations throughout his professional tenure.

During his time in the NHL, Taylor played for the Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following his North American career, he moved to Switzerland to compete in the Swiss A League for Genève-Servette and won the Spangler Cup. Furthermore, his transition into coaching has been marked by immediate success and a commitment to developing the next generation of Arizona hockey talent. For instance, he helped coach the 2021-22 U15 Jr. Coyotes to a Tier 1 league championship and a national tournament appearance.

Currently, Taylor serves as a Player Development Coach and Mentor, where he utilizes his professional background to guide student-athletes through their own competitive journeys. Because he has played at the highest levels of the sport, he possesses a unique understanding of the discipline and skill required for advancement. He remains dedicated to fostering an environment of excellence and high-performance habits for every athlete at the Phoenix campus. Ultimately, his leadership ensures that TPH student-athletes receive world-class mentorship from a veteran who has reached the pinnacle of the hockey world.
