About Conor Clancey
Born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Conor Clancey brings an elite multi-sport background and advanced scientific expertise to the TPH Academy and Ice Den Performance teams. His athletic journey began in Tier-I youth hockey, where he competed for the Jr. Coyotes, Phoenix Firebirds, and PF Changs hockey clubs. Because of his early talent and physical play, he was drafted by the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL Bantam Draft and the Motor City Metal Jackets in the NAHL. Eventually, Conor transitioned his focus to baseball, where he excelled as an NCAA Division-I athlete at both the University of Arizona and Wofford College.
In 2015, Conor earned the prestigious title of Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American, cementing his status as one of the top collegiate players in the country. Following his playing career, he dedicated himself to the science of human performance by earning a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a specialized emphasis in Sport Performance. Furthermore, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and serves on the NSCA Arizona State Advisory Board. Consequently, he possesses the high-level credentials necessary to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical, on-ice application.
Currently, Conor serves as an adjunct Exercise Science professor at Grand Canyon University and brings nearly a decade of experience in collegiate and professional strength and conditioning. His evidence-informed approach to human performance emphasizes safe, effective, and sport-specific training protocols designed to maximize athlete longevity. Additionally, his role as a coaching liaison ensures that the training programs at Ice Den Performance remain at the cutting edge of modern sports science. By focusing on the unique physiological demands of hockey, he helps student-athletes build the explosive power and durability required for elite competition.
Ultimately, Conor’s combination of high-level playing experience and academic mastery makes him a vital asset to the Arizona hockey community. He remains passionate about mentoring young athletes and helping them understand the importance of physical preparation in achieving their long-term goals. As a result, his leadership at IDP ensures that every TPH student-athlete receives world-class athletic development. Through disciplined training and scientific oversight, he continues to shape the next generation of high-performing leaders on and off the ice.
