About Matthew Doran

Matthew Doran, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, joins the TPH Academy team following a distinguished career in junior, collegiate, and professional hockey. Specifically, his journey began with four years of elite junior hockey, including three productive seasons in the NAHL and one in the BCHL. Subsequently, he commenced his collegiate career at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks before transferring to SUNY Geneseo to complete his four-year tenure. During this time, he successfully balanced a rigorous athletic schedule with his studies to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Communication.

While competing at Geneseo, Matthew achieved significant accolades, including winning two conference championships and earning dual selections to all-conference teams. Furthermore, he finished as a runner-up in the National Championship and was honored with a prestigious place on the National Championship all-tournament team. Following his collegiate success, he transitioned to the professional arena to compete for the Wichita Thunder in the ECHL. He also spent a standout season with the Huntsville Havoc in the SPHL, where he was recognized as a member of the All-SPHL Rookie team.

Matthew is incredibly excited to kickstart his professional coaching career at TPH and share his wealth of hockey knowledge with young student-athletes. Because he has navigated the path from youth hockey to the professional ranks, he possesses a unique perspective on the preparation required for advancement. He remains inspired by the proven track record of TPH in nurturing elite talent and fostering a culture of excellence. Ultimately, his goal is to equip every player with the necessary skills and mental toughness to excel at the highest levels of competition.
