About Dr. Sean DeVarennes

Dr. DeVarennes graduated from Marymount University, earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from 2021 to 2024. During his time as a student, he worked closely with the Reston Raiders hockey program, ranging from U12 to U19 boys’ and girls’ teams, and volunteered with the Old Glory Rugby medical team and the Washington Capitals development and training camps, including performance testing and movement screening.

Dr. DeVarennes has been involved in ice hockey for most of his life, starting with playing competitive hockey in New Brunswick, Canada, and finishing his career playing ACHA Division I hockey at Mercyhurst University from 2014-2018, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Public Health and Psychology. From there, he returned home to Canada to work full-time as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist & Sports nutritionist in the private sector, working with athletes across all ages in ice hockey, soccer, and baseball, delivering sports performance and injury prevention programs and screening for 4 years. Before returning to Stateside to pursue Physical Therapy, he worked full-time with both a junior development team and a professional hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as a Strength Coach, Kinesiologist, and Sports Nutritionist.
