From TPH Detroit to the St. Louis Blues: Landon Nycz and Nicolas Bogas Selected in the 2026 NHL Draft
Ten TPH-affiliated athletes heard their names called during the 2026 NHL Draft, marking an incredible milestone for the players, families, coaches, and programs that helped shape their journeys.
Among them were TPH Academy Detroit alumni and former Team TPH OHL Cup defensemen Landon Nycz and Nicolas Bogas, who were selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively. Their selections reflect years of disciplined development and a commitment to becoming intelligent, adaptable, and confident hockey players prepared to succeed at the next level.
Landon Nycz
Round 4, Pick No. 107 | St. Louis Blues
Landon Nycz built his game on mobility, poise, and the ability to move the puck with confidence. After developing at TPH Academy Detroit and representing Team TPH at the OHL Cup, his path continued through the USHL with the Waterloo Black Hawks and Sioux City Musketeers before joining the University of Massachusetts for the 2025-26 season.
Nycz was selected by the Waterloo Black Hawks in the 2023 USHL Futures Draft after a strong season that showcased his skating ability and puck-moving instincts, earning him attention as a defenseman capable of impacting the game in transition.
During his time at TPH Academy Detroit, former Head of Hockey David Sellin saw those qualities continue to grow, describing Landon as a very promising young player.
Nicolas Bogas
Round 5, Pick No. 139 | St. Louis Blues
Nicolas Bogas built his game around strong hockey sense, reliable defense, and smart puck movement, developing into a true impact student-athlete during his time at TPH Academy Detroit.
Following his time with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Team TPH at the OHL Cup, Bogas advanced to the USHL Waterloo Black Hawks before earning a spot with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. During the 2025-26 season, he represented the United States at the IIHF U18 Men's World Championship while competing with both the U.S. National Under-18 Team and NTDP Juniors.
His development extended well beyond the rink.
Bogas was a 2023-24 TPH Academy Impact Player of the Year nominee and earned multiple Academic Impact Player of the Month honors while maintaining a high GPA. He was also recognized as TPH Academy Detroit's Athlete of the Month in March 2024. Within the academy community, he volunteered through service initiatives, helped lead the Big Brother Program, and consistently set the standard for younger student-athletes.
TPH Detroit Director and former NHL Winger Dwayne Norris believes those habits are what set him apart.
"Nick leads by example every day," said Norris. "He competes at a high level, supports the people around him, and carries himself like a professional in everything he does. Whether it was academics, training, community service, or helping a teammate, he showed the same commitment. He made everyone around him better simply by doing things the right way."
