Michelle Steiner

Dr. Michelle Steiner grew up in Rochester, New York, before moving to Long Island to pursue an extensive and distinguished academic career. Specifically, she attended The State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology. Furthermore, she continued her elite education at the same institution to successfully obtain both a Master’s degree and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology. Because of her deep background in the science of learning, she possesses a unique understanding of the mental strategies required for high-level academic performance.

Throughout her career, Michelle has been fortunate to lead student success initiatives in several major cities, including Minneapolis, Albuquerque, and the East Coast. Notably, she held key academic advising and tutoring positions at the University of Minnesota, the University of New Mexico, and George Washington University. Additionally, she served at Marymount University, where she focused heavily on developing specialized programs designed to improve student retention and achievement. Consequently, she brings more than 20 years of experience in partnering with students to help them become their very best academic selves.

As a former student-athlete in tennis, Michelle is keenly aware that developing disciplined habits is essential to balancing competitive athletics and rigorous coursework. Her expertise in academic coaching, access services, and teaching allows her to provide a well-rounded approach to the unique TPH Academy model. When she is not supporting student-athletes, she and her partner, Jon, love to cheer on their son, Xavier, as he competes in high school lacrosse. Ultimately, her passion for mentorship and her clinical understanding of cognitive development ensure that every TPH Academy student-athlete is prepared for long-term success.
