The St. JamesTPH Academic Success Coach

About Michelle Steiner

Dr. Michelle Steiner grew up in Rochester, New York and then spent a significant amount of time on Long Island, where she attended The State University of NY at Stony Brook and earned a BA in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies, an MA in Psychology, and a PhD in Cognitive Psychology. Michelle has been fortunate to live in a number of different cities – Minneapolis for an academic advising position at the University of Minnesota, Albuquerque to work in advising and then tutoring at The University of New Mexico, and then back to the East coast to live in Chantilly and work at The George Washington University and Marymount University, where she focused on student success initiatives and programs.
Michelle has spent more than 20 years partnering with students to become their best academic selves. With experiences in advising, academic coaching, tutoring, access services, and teaching, she understands the importance of a well-rounded approach to student success. As a former student-athlete (tennis!) Michelle is keenly aware that developing good academic habits are key to balancing athletics and coursework. Michelle and her partner Jon love to spend time supporting their son, Xavier, as he navigates high school and lacrosse.
