PHILADELPHIA, PA – TPH Philadelphia is proud to announce that Riley Cote will be taking on an expanded role as Player Development and Mindset Coach effective immediately. Cote brings a wealth of knowledge and a distinctive perspective to this new role, drawing from an extensive background that spans the highest levels of professional hockey. A former NHL player with the Philadelphia Flyers, Cote competed in 156 NHL games, demonstrating the grit, determination, and resilience required to succeed at the elite level. Following his playing career, he transitioned seamlessly into coaching, serving as an Assistant Coach for seven seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. This dual experience as both a player and a coach at the professional ranks provides him with a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to navigate the challenging path of a hockey player.

Beyond his on-ice acumen, Riley has become a respected mentor of student-athletes, focusing not only on skill development but also on the crucial mental and emotional aspects of the game. His MindChamp program, incorporated into Method Hockey, emphasizes visual cognition, stress management, and mindfulness, providing a critical layer of support that extends beyond traditional hockey training. This holistic approach aligns perfectly with TPH’s commitment to developing the complete individual.

“We are absolutely thrilled to expand Riley Cote’s role within the TPH Philadelphia ecosystem,” shared Kevin Holt, Executive Director of TPH Philadelphia. “Riley’s journey from NHL player to AHL coach and his dedication to mentoring young athletes are truly inspiring. His ability to connect with players, coupled with his deep understanding of both the physical and mental demands of the game, will be an incredible asset to our student-athletes. This expanded role underscores our belief in Riley’s ability to foster growth and success, both on and off the ice, for every hockey player under our guidance.”

In his new capacity, Cote will be instrumental in shaping the player development curriculum, working closely with TPH Philadelphia’s coaches and staff to implement programs that cultivate not just skilled hockey players but well-rounded individuals prepared for success in all aspects of life. His unique blend of professional playing experience, high-level coaching, and dedication to mindfulness and mentorship will significantly benefit every aspiring hockey player within TPH-Philadelphia.
