TPH Academy Austin Taps Coach, Educator, and Leader Stan Brown as Director & Head of Academics

TPH Academy is proud to announce the appointment of Stan Brown as Director and Head of Academics for its Austin, TX location. A multi-faceted leader with nearly 20 years of experience in athletics and education, Brown will be responsible for spearheading all aspects of TPH’s Study-Train-Play experience at The Crossover.  

“I’m excited and honored to lead TPH Academy Austin,” Brown shared. “This program offers something truly unique- a chance to build an environment where student-athletes can thrive academically, develop their athletic skills, and grow as individuals. I look forward to working closely with families, students, and our great sports partners to bring this wonderful vision to life.”

A Florida native, Brown brings a diverse resume to TPH Austin. He has spent 17 years directly supporting students in the classroom, serving as a Math, Special Education, and Adaptive Behavior Instructor. In the classroom, Brown’s mission was to meet students where they were and shape the learning to them, as much as the traditional school system would allow. Stan believes that TPH Academy Austin will give him the ideal platform to take his passion for personalized learning to the next level.

“One of the aspects of TPH Academy that drew me to this role is the commitment to customizing the learning experience based on the individual, not the system itself,” Brown added. “I’m excited to learn about each individual student’s identity, personality, and learning style, and shape the experience to when, where, and how they learn best. This is a huge draw for me in this role.”

Beyond the classroom, the Florida State University graduate has spent three years working in school administration, serving as Dean of Students at Haile Middle School in Bradenton, FL.  Additionally, Stan has six years of experience in sports administration, working directly in the sports academy setting at IMG Academy. His experience at IMG gave him the opportunity to witness, firsthand, how a sports academy functions. 

“A big part of this role will be implementing the model that TPH has built to give our student-athletes every opportunity to be successful,” Brown stated. “Equally as important, will be ensuring our various sports partners have the resources and support needed to give our kids a first-class athletic experience. I’m looking forward to applying many of the lessons I have learned in these areas as we all work together to power TPH’s core purpose of advancing the next generation of impact players.”  

While Stan brings extensive expertise to the classroom, along with the perspective gained from his administrative side of an academy operation, he has also invested several years working directly with student-athletes. Over the course of six seasons, Stan held roles as both a Head and Assistant Football Coach.  In 2009, Brown was tasked with building the football program at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School from scratch. Stan believes that his experience building a start-up football program—combined with the skills and milestones he’s achieved throughout his journey—has prepared him to help shape the culture he and TPH envision for the greater Austin community. 

“Being selected to lead TPH Academy Austin gives me the opportunity to combine all of my passions and experiences into one role,” Brown stated. “Whether helping students in the classroom, pushing athletes on the field, or working behind the scenes to help power the operation, I’m ready to give everything I have to make TPH Austin the destination for the family who is looking to give their student something different…something special.”
