From Kansas to Miami: How Sasha Brewer’s Hard Work and TPH Academy Led to Success
For Sasha Brewer, soccer has been more than just a game—it’s been a driving force in her life since she first took to the field at 11 years old. From her early days playing for Placer United and San Juan in California, to joining KC Athletics after moving to Kansas, Sasha’s journey has been one of dedication and growth. Now, as she prepares for her next chapter at the University of Miami, she credits TPH Academy for providing the flexibility and support that have helped her excel both on and off the field.

Sasha, who also plays for Blue Valley High School, knew that TPH Academy was the perfect fit for her ambitious goals. “I chose TPH because it is the best opportunity for me to get better at my sport while also prioritizing my school,” she shared. “It also makes having to travel for my sport and having a job much easier since my classes are online.”
TPH Academy’s unique model offers student-athletes like Sasha the ability to create their own schedules, allowing them to balance training, competition, and academics without compromise. Through a blend of personalized education and elite-level training, Sasha has been able to maximize her development beyond traditional school and club practice sessions. “TPH has helped me get better just by allowing me to train every day outside of my club or high school practices,” she explains.
A new opportunity, now available through the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA), allows student-athletes like Sasha to compete for their local high school teams while attending a virtual or non-public school. Meaning, Kansas state high school-aged residents can attend TPH Academy and still be eligible to compete for their scholastic programs, providing even more flexibility for student-athletes to pursue their goals.

Sasha’s dedication to both her sport and academics has been evident to those around her, including Christy Rutherford, Director and Head of Academics at TPH Academy Kansas City. “As an elite high school athlete, the flexibility of TPH has allowed Sasha to set her own schedule. She was able to accelerate her learning with TPH to meet her goal of graduating early,” shared Rutherford. “It also allows her to prioritize her academics and training to meet her and her family’s needs.”
With her sights set on playing soccer at the University of Miami next spring and eventually attending medical school, Sasha exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete. Her journey at TPH Academy has allowed her to forge her own path, ensuring that she is prepared for the challenges ahead, both on the field and in the classroom.
“Sasha is an amazing young woman and athlete,” Rutherford adds. “She is very driven and passionate about meeting both her academic and soccer goals. TPH Kansas City is proud to be part of her journey to becoming an athlete at the University of Miami.”
As Sasha embarks on this exciting new chapter, her story serves as an inspiration for other student-athletes striving to achieve their dreams. With the right balance of academics, training, and support, anything is possible—and Sasha Brewer is proof of that.
