The Cutting Edge: TPH Academy’s Alexis Snyder Inspired by Team USA Success
Original article by Olivia Acree for KSHB 41
For TPH Academy Kansas City student-athlete Alexis Snyder, the recent success of Team USA on the world stage isn’t just something to watch on TV—it’s fuel for her own competitive fire.
As figure skating captures the national spotlight, Alexis is busy putting in the work at the rink and in the classroom to reach those same heights. A dedicated skater since the age of six, Alexis has evolved into one of the region’s top talents. Recently passing her gold singles test to become a triple gold medalist, she currently ranks among the Midwest’s top junior skaters.
“I can do triple toe, triple salchow, triple loop, that they also do. Some people can do a triple axel now,” Snyder said.
While the grace of the sport is what the public sees, Alexis knows the reality is built on grit. Training at an elite level requires a grueling schedule, which is why she joined TPH Academy. The “Study-Train-Play” model allows her to balance high-level academics with the ice time necessary to master triple jumps and move up the national rankings.
For Alexis, seeing Team USA athletes achieve greatness provides a roadmap for what’s possible. Whether she is training at AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk in Overland Park or working through her AP Biology coursework at TPH, her goal remains the same: to push the boundaries of her potential.
“It feels nice to be in the level where I can only improve,” Snyder said.
With her sights set on collegiate skating and a future career in biology, Alexis Snyder is proving that with the right support system, the next generation of Team USA stars is already in the making.
